Regattaboat.com needs your GPS to record where you drop the leeward mark and to steer you back to the windward position. Nothing leaves the device except the coordinates sent to the weather service when you fetch wind.

Length comes from class VMG at the measured wind: total axis distance divided by the speed the fleet actually makes good. Ceiling 1852 m (1 nm) regardless of what the clock wants.

Bearings are true, not magnetic. Apply local variation before steering a compass.

Wind and current stay in knots and bearings stay in degrees true either way — those are universal. This switches course lengths, drift and tide heights between metres and yards or feet.

The fleet is stored on this device and survives closing the page, so you register once and reuse it every race day. Sail numbers are sorted as you add them; drag is not needed because the results page shows them in register order.
